When I first set up this blog, I used aliases (2ThePoint, Big Momma) for a couple of reasons:
- it allowed me to tap into a different side of me
- I felt the anonymity gave me a lot more freedom
- I could be whoever I wanted to be without it getting back to the people who knew me
I guess I wanted to separate the me that some people knew from the me that's fascinated with the whole MMO shebang. I didn't think they'd understand my interest in it. In my mind, I imagined that once they found out, their view of me would make me break out in hives of awkwardness and embarrassment. It mattered what they thought (or what I think they'd think) and I just thought their view of me would be laced with confusion and disapproval as they'd have a problem tallying up who they think I am with who I actually am.
But now, it doesn't matter - nowhere near as much as it used to, anyway. I'm still a tad self-conscious but I guess it'll fade in time. And if it doesn't, then I'll cross that Lego bridge when I get to it.
I'll never stop using aliases in some other shape or form on some other blog or offline project as I believe they definitely serve a purpose. However, for this blog, I am... Ebele.
The online world, MMO, blogging and all the drama and excitement that comes with it...has become a big part of who I am.

I totally understand where you're coming from. Alot of my friends in real life have no idea what I do online, and a few that do.. including family members, sorta made fun of me for doing this.
Because like everything else, you must start out small.. they made fun of me for "making pennies" as they called it.
But since I started I made over $1000! So who's laughing now ;) lol.
I just keep doing what I'm doing and trying my best to succeed even more.. and if or when the day comes that I accomplish what I hope for... I'm sure they'll be moreeee than happy to accept what I do lol.

I've told a few of friends about my online endeavours and they were cool. A family member made a remark once. She wasn't being nasty but she wasn't particularly encouragng either, so when it comes to family, I'm keeping my lips sealed until I'm really making it.

I'll probably still use aliases as sometimes 'Big Momma' does rear her head every now and then, but '2ThePoint' has definitely been laid to rest as I never really totally liked the name.
